Recognised as one of the best and most significant reggae albums of all time. An essential LP for all lovers of reggae music.
"Live at the Counter Eurovision 79" is a landmark live roots reggae album by Misty In Roots, recorded in 1979 as a counter-event to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Misty In Roots, formed in Southall, London in 1975, became internationally recognized for their politically charged and spiritually infused reggae music. The band's debut LP release was this live album "Live at the Counter Eurovision 79", which captures performances from 31 March and 1 April 1979 at the Cirque Royal in Brussels, organized as a counter-event to the Eurovision Song Contest, emphasizing cultural independence and resistance to commercialization in music.
Misty In Roots were championed by John Peel at the time alongside other great British Reggae bands like Steel Pulse, Aswad, and Matumbi. This album is widely regarded as one of the greatest live reggae recordings of all time, noted for its raw energy and socially conscious lyrics.
To celebrate the band's 50th anniversary, the album is at last reissued!
